Feed Reader Widget

OpenScholar's Feed Reader lets you to subscribe to RSS Feeds from other sites and include the results on your own. This widget allows you to put those results into a box in any region of your site. This box can display any or all of the feeds you've already added to your site via the Reader App.

Random Widget

The Random Widget can randomly display one of the widgets added in every page refresh.

Add a New Random Widget

Go to the layout area of the control panel and select "Add new widget", then choose "Random Widget".

Widget Description is the administrative title (seen by site administrators only)

Accordion Widget

The Accordion Widget can display other widgets added in like a accordion, which means the widgets can be shown or hidden by expanding or shrinking their area.

RSS Feed Widget

This widget will display a link to an RSS feed of your content. Visitors can use this link to follow recent updates to your website. You can use the dropdown to filter the type of content that will appear in the feed.

Columns Widget

The Columns widget is essentially a layout tool that provides a way to display content within columns on your web page. Similar to the Tabs widget, it displays content from other widgets in an organized way.

Tip: You need to create the content widgets before setting up a columns widget.

AddThis Widget

The AddThis widget provides a menu that displays a variety of social media icons with the purpose of allowing a user to share the current page they are on among other users on their social network and via email. Clicking an icon will allow a user to share the page on the selected social network.  Icons are included for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+  and email.

List of Files Widget

This widget displays and automatically generated list of files from your site. The options are very similar to those found in List of Posts.

Three options to sort your files:

  1. You can select the File Type from all to a particular content type - Images, video, document, etc. * Lists that display only images and videos are special and will include a thumbnail of these items.

  2. You can control how much of that information you want to showcase in Display Style.

The Featured Posts widget displays a list of links or short teasers of selected posts. You can choose posts of any content type, arrange them in any order, and configure display options.

Displaying Content with the Taxonomy Widget

Taxonomy widgets are designed to display a list of taxonomy terms that you have added to one of your site’s vocabularies.

Embed Media Widget

The Embed Media Widget displays embedded rich media such as files, images, videos, links and more. You can select media from your computer, select media saved in your library, embed HTML code, or select media from an external source.

Twitter Widget

The Twitter Widget displays a feed of recent tweets for a given Twitter account. Once you create a Twitter widget, you can choose to display the most recent feeds from a Twitter username, hashtag, or search term to be shown in the box. You can also give the widget a unique name and description as well as control how many tweets you want to appear within the widget. You may also encourage visitors to follow you by checking the “include a follow me” link option.
